2018 Integrity and Competence Seminar for Government Ethics Officers in Supporting Role

Inasmuch as the scope of anti-corruption works is so extensive that it covers the administrative entities, schools, and public enterprises all through the country at all levels (hereinafter referred to as “entities at all levels”), the Agency Against Corruption (AAC) seeks to institute the “Guidelines for Liaison of Government Ethics Officers in Supporting Role” to help the advocacy, notification and advice in anti-corruption work. Constrained by the understaffing of the ethics units at all levels with those at the town offices, schools and other entities (institutions) that such unit has not been established. Under this rule, entities without the establishment of ethics units shall appoint appropriate personnel to ethically perform their duties and anti-corruption in a supporting role.

AAC planned to hold advanced training courses in Hsinchu County, Taipei City, Taichung City, Kaohsiung City, and Penghu County from June to August, 2018, so as to strengthen the capacity of the Government Ethics Officers in professional knowledge in the discipline. In addition, AAC also arranged the courses of “Integrity Policy and Ethics Code”, “Guidelines for Civil Servants in Confidentiality”. AAC will assign personnel to give lectures, including: the background for the institution of the Integrity and Ethics Directions for Civil Servants, the essence and practice with case study, and important notice of confidentiality in the business process of official documents (duties). AAC personnel at the rank of Chief Secretary and higher will be present to hold the symposium after the lectures for sharing and exchange with a view to fortify both anti-corruption and prevention of corruption in government entities for improvement of the performance in anti-corruption work.
