Lin X, the magistrate of Yilan County, was involved in the alleged offense of taking bribes for a breach of duty.

The Agency and the Taiwan Yilan District Prosecutors Office jointly investigated Magistrate Lin X of Yilan County for improperly benefiting others via exemption from land value-added tax when the government handled the No. 1558 Luodong land valueadded tax exemption case in 2019 and the Luodong urban land planning case in 2020. During periods when Lin X served as the mayor of Luodong Township and the magistrate of Yilan County, there were unreasonable sources of monetary income that were not commensurate with normal income. She used money laundering to create the illusion of circular lending to others by depositing funds into financial accounts rented or borrowed from others without repayment.

The prosecutor concluded the investigation and found evidence of Lin’s accepting bribes violating duties and unidentified sources of assets violating the Anti-Corruption Act. Lin X was also prosecuted for making an entry that sh e knows to be false and causes injury to the public or another in violation of Articles 213 and 216 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of China, as w ell as specific money laundering in violation of Subpar agraphs 2-3, Paragraph 1, Article 15 of the Money Laundering Control Act.
