The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) jointly held the 2024 Integrity Platform for Enterprise Services Seminar entitled "ESG of Electricity and New Opportunities of Green Energy" on July 17th, 2024. The discussions at the seminar mainly centered on energy transition. Personnel from the government and private organizations as well as enterprises were invited to engaged in cross-domain discussions and interactions on a variety of topics, including administrative streamlining, crimes involving obstruction of green energy, and enterprise integrity issues.

The seminar began with speeches delivered by Cheng, Ming-Chien, Minister of Justice, Kuo, Jyh-Huei, Minister of Economic Affairs, and Tseng, Wen-Sheng, Chairman of Taiwan Power Company. Distinguished guests present included Chang, Tou-Hui, Chief Prosecutor of the Taiwan High Prosecutors Office, Feng, Cheng, Director-General of Agency Against Corruption (AAC), Wang, Chun-Li, Chief Prosecutor of Taiwan Taipei District Prosecutors Office, Yu, Li-Chen, Chief Prosecutor of Taiwan New Taipei District Prosecutors Office, and Yan, Nai-Wei, Chief Prosecutor of Taiwan Shilin District Prosecutors Office. Yeh, Yu-Jun, Chief Sustainability Officer of Taiwan Cement Corporation (TCC), delivered the keynote speech. As a representative of benchmark enterprise, she shared the experience on green energy transition and sustainable development. Meanwhile, guests from the AAC, Taiwan Taipei District Prosecutors Office, and Taiwan New Taipei District Prosecutors Office elaborated on the whistleblower protection system, preventing crimes involving obstruction of green energy, and cracking down unlawful profit seeking and convenience for the public, among other policies of integrity that help companies achieve sustainable operations. Last but not least, Wang, Chen-Yung, Vice President of Taipower, hosted the general session. Over 120 representatives from the private sector met with guests from the Taiwan Shilin District Prosecutors Office, Securities and Futures Bureau, Energy Administration, Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, and AAC. They were able to engage in in-depth discussion on issues encountered or needing attention amid the green energy transition.

Cheng, Ming-Chien, Minister of Justice, pointed out that the MOJ voluntarily implements the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). The MOJ collaborated with other agencies to call for and promote enterprise integrity and regulatory compliance during the seminar, as well as responding to suggestions proposed by enterprises. Since 2019, a series of seminars on debunking myths of unlawful profit seeking and convenience for the public to people have been held. These seminars effectively strengthen awareness on compliance and the identification of illegal circumstances among the public and private sectors, and guide civil servants in actively handling their responsibilities. As a result, the seminars have been well received by government agency and enterprise representatives. Carrying on the same philosophy since 2022 in promoting the Integrity Platform for Enterprise Services, the MOJ has been dedicated to cross-domain communication, helping enterprises pay attention to resolving legal compliance or integrity issues, distinguishing between unlawful profit seeking and convenience for the public. The seminar focused on policies of integrity, green energy and sustainable operations. Government agencies were able to engage in discussion pertaining to energy transition issues of the current stage with representatives of enterprises, thereby building good partnerships between the public and private sectors. In addition, through the discussion of the general session, the hosting organizations aimed to conduct cross-domain integration, incorporating prosecutors, the AAC, and other entities to foster a safe and reassuring environment conducive for preventing violations. By working together to eliminate crimes and protect the advancement of green energy with dedication, the public and private sectors will be able to improve the development of the green energy industry.
